Sophomores

Next year you will be allowed to take classes from Wheeling Jesuit University for dual credit! You must have qualifying scores and you must let the CPO know of your interest during registration.

The following are classes Jesuit is opening to juniors and the needed scores from your PLAN, ACT or SAT scores:

Qualifying juniors may choose from the following classes:

  • Physics I
  • Psychology
  • History I
  • Calculus I and II

These are all semester classes. Physics and calcusus may replace required graduation courses in math and science. History I and psychology will be considered electives.

The tuition for three credit classes currently is $195 for three credit classes. Four credit classes such as physics will be slightly more expensive ($260). That is 1/3 the cost incurred by college students.

Classes will take place at Central with Jesuit instructors!

Students who wish to take History or psychology must have the minimum score for English/Reading due to the extensive amount of writing and the college-level texts that will be used.

Students who wish to take physics or Calculus must have the minimum score for math and must be currently enrolled in pre-calculus or calculus.
    Minimum score for the ACT:
        Minimum score for the SAT

  • Math - 460
  • Critical Reading/Writing - 420/450

Rising juniors may use their PLAN scores. These correlate to the ACT scores outlined above.

If you have any questions, please contact the CPO. We will keep you and your child updated with any additional information from Northern or Jesuit. Again, I know it is early, but we must have an idea of the interest in the classes so we can schedule our high school classes in a timely manner.
