Central Catholic High School Scholarship Opportunities

The Classes of 1976 and 1977 Scholarship

  • Established by the joint reunion committees of the classes of 1976 & 1977 for one incoming freshman
  • Based on academic excellence and financial need
  • One winner will receive $1,000 for each year of high school to be applied to the recipient’s tuition
  • Award is based on excellence in the scholarship essay writing contest, a 3.0 GPA or higher in eighth grade, financial need, and maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA each year at Central
  • Scholarship will be awarded again in the 2013-14 academic year

Central Catholic High School Booster Association Scholarships

  • Thanks to the generosity and support of the Central Family, the CCHS Booster Association annually awards one-year scholarships to incoming freshmen and current CCHS students.
  • Five scholarships in the amount of $500 are awarded to incoming freshmen
  • Five scholarships in the amount of $500 are awarded to current students
  • Awards is based on excellence in the scholarship essay writing contest only
  • This year the Boosters will double the scholarship to the recipient who demonstrates the spirit of service to the community. Details will be forthcoming.

Frank and Nazel Ann Busacca Scholarship

  • Established by the Busacca children in memory of their parents, Frank and Nazel
  • Based on academic excellence and financial need
  • One winner will receive $1500 for each year of high school to be applied to the recipient’s tuition.
  • Award is based on excellence in the scholarship essay writing contest, a 3.0 GPA or higher in eighth grade, financial need, and maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA each year at Central
  • Scholarship will be awarded again in the 2016-17 academic year

The McGrail/Sloane Scholarship

  • Established by Kit McGrail-Sloane (Class of 1977) & Edward Sloane, Jr.
  • Based on academic excellence and financial need
  • One winner will receive $2,300 for each year of high school to be applied to the recipient’s tuition
  • Award is based on excellence in the scholarship essay writing contest, a 3.0 GPA or higher in eighth grade, financial need, and maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA each year at Central
  • Scholarship will be awarded again in the 2016-17 academic year

An invitation to compete for these above scholarships will be sent in the spring to all students who have been accepted to Central Catholic HS. The invitation will include the date and time for the writing contest and a general writing prompt.

 

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE/LEA SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is open to seniors who plan to attend certain colleges in the area. Mrs. Niggemyer has the information for the Wheeling Chamber of Commerce/Williams Lea scholarship in the College Placement Office now. To apply, you need to list areas of service to the community including a brief description of your involvement.  Also, you must attach a brief (500 words or less) essay describing how your present service to the community has benefited you, and how the community has benefited from your service.

THIS IS A $1,000 SCHOLARSHIP.

The deadline to the CPO is February 20th.
