MAT411-412 Algebra I (Year) - Requirement
This course starts with the basic concepts and terminology of Algebra. Topics emphasized include: linear and quadratic equations, functions, exponents, polynomials, factoring, graphing, and word problem-solving methods incorporating basic arithmetic skills.
MAT413 Algebra I (Part I) (Year) - Requirement
This is a moderately paced Algebra I course which starts with a review of basic concept of Algebra. Topics include: concepts of directed numbers, factors and multiples of numbers, expressions, equations and inequalities, functions, and operations with binomials and polynomials.
MAT414 Math Principles (Year)
This course is for the student who needs a review of the basic math skills and their relationship to other mathematical concepts. Topics include: decimal and fractional operations, percents, ratio and proportions, number patterns and area and volume of various geometric figures.
MAT421 Honors Geometry (Year) - Requirement
This course teaches students to recognize and use symbols for points, lines, planes, and angles. This is coordinated with the concepts of parallel lines and their relation to polygons, deductive and inductive reasoning, congruency and similarity of polygons, right triangle, circle theorems, area, volume, basic construction, formal proofs and coordinate geometry.
MAT422 Algebra I (Part II) (Year) - Requirement
This course is a continuation of Algebra I, Part I. Topics include: absolutes, equality properties, polynomials, exponents, factoring, fractions with ratio and proportions, applications of percents, quadratic equations, and graphing. Successful completion of Algebra I, Parts I and II, fulfills the WV requirements of a credit in Algebra I.
MAT424 Honors Algebra II (Year)
This course is structured to prepare the student for pre-calculus. Topics include: an in-depth study of functions, linear equations and inequalities, polynomials, factoring, rational expressions, irrational and complex numbers, quadratic equations, and other related algebraic topics.
MAT425 Geometry (Year) - Requirement
This course teaches the basic terminology needed to understand and use the concepts of angles, parallel lines, polygons, congruency, similarity, right triangle, deductive reasoning, proofs, circle theorems, area and volume.
MAT431 Trigonometry/Analysis (Year)
This course is designed to provide students with a background for a college mathematics class. Topics include: degree and radian measure, trigonometric functions, identities, equations, applications of trigonometry, conic sections, probability, exponential and logarithmic functions.
MAT432 Algebra II (Year)
This course is designed for students of varying abilities who wish to take a second year of algebra. Topics include: a review of Algebra I skills, linear and quadratic equations, functions, polynomials, factoring, rational expressions, and radical and complex numbers.
MAT442 Trigonometry Functions (Year)
This course is designed to provide students with a background for a college mathematics class. Topics include: degree and radian measure, trigonometric functions, identities, equations, applications of trigonometry, conic sections, probability, exponential and logarithmic functions.
MAT445 Math Applications (Year)
This course reviews algebraic and geometric concepts presented in prior mathematics courses. New topics include: matrices and determinates, probability, permutations and combinations, sequences and series, and statistics. Practical applications include money management and investment strategy.
