CSC749 Microsoft Office Pro (Semester)
Microsoft Office Professional provides students with the skills necessary to operate word processing applications using Microsoft Word, spreadsheet applications using Excel, database applications using Access, and presentations using PowerPoint.
CSC750 Visual Basic Programming (Semester)
This course provides students with the ability to create programs that run in a Windows environment. Programs are written using the Visual Basic programming language. This language allows the programmer to produce easily the entry boxes and option buttons that are common with much of today’s commercially available software.
CSC751 Keyboarding/Word Processing (Semester)
This course teaches students to key the letters, numbers, symbols, and numeric keypad of the keyboard by touch. The learning is supplemented with speed building and accuracy drills. The skills which students learn in this course can be easily transferred to any computer or typewriter. In addition to learning the keyboard by touch, students also learn basic word processing commands.
CSC754 Introduction to Internet (Semester)
This course introduces students to DOS (disk operating systems), Windows, and the INTERNET, including the World Wide Web. In DOS students learn how the programs communicate with the computer and interface with other hardware. In Windows students learn another method of communicating with the computer and the application software installed on the computer. The introduction to the INTERNET (World Wide Web) lets students access an unlimited amount of information available world wide.
CSC755 Pagemaker (Juniors-Seniors / Semester)
This course gives students an introduction to desk top publishing. Students learn how to design articles, graphics, and pictures into a format used in newspapers, books, and magazines.
CSC779 Advanced Web Page Design (Semester)
This course builds on the information and skills developed in HTML programming (799). Students learn to make their web pages more interactive using JavaScript. Topics covered make it possible to create web sites capable of gathering and transmitting data.
Prerequisite: Course 799 – HTML or a working knowledge of HTML
CSC780 Video Production (Semester)
This course takes students from the basics of understanding video cameras and tape all the way to editing a project. Topics include camera function, composition, lighting, scripting, storyboarding, audio methods, video styles, linear and nonlinear editing, and output from computer to tape. Students will be expected to complete several types of projects during the semester. Although access to a video camera is not required, it is recommended.
CSC785 SAT/ACT Prep (Juniors-Seniors / Semester)
This is a computer-assisted course which prepares students for the SAT and the ACT college entrance examinations. Students become familiar with the format and structure of both testing procedures. Students complete practice problems and utilize computer tutorials to receive immediate scoring and feedback.
CSC795 Computer Art (Semester)
Students in this course will work with "Adobe Photoshop" which is an imaging editing program that allows the user to create and produce high-quality digital images. By the end of the course, students will have working knowledge of how to create a cover illustration, poster and photo collage.
Pre-requisite: Art I
CSC799 Intro to Web Page Design (Semester)
This course is an introduction to creating web pages using hypertext markup language (HTML). Students learn the basic components of web pages and how to code these features in HTML. Topics include hyperlinks, images, tables, image maps, frames, and forms. No previous programming experience is necessary.
