ART117 Studio Art I (Semester)
This course is an introduction to art. Topics include: lessons in drawing and painting, discussion of the right/left brain functions, and an introduction to the elements and principles of design. Emphasis is placed on fostering creativity and self-expression through art.

ART118 Art Appreciation (Semester)
This course is an introduction to art history from ancient times through present day. Students study various artists and art periods through slide presentations and hands on projects. Topics include: the pre-Colombian period, Greek and Roman art and architecture, the Renaissance, and modern art impressionism, cubism, surrealism, and abstract expressionism.

ART127 Studio Art II (Semester)
Skills learned in ART I are built upon in ART II. Students work with various drawing mediums including water color, oil paints, and pastels. They incorporate the styles of different artists into their own paintings. Students are also introduced to sculpture and to art history.

ART137 Studio Art III (Semester)
Refinement of techniques and skills is emphasized as students gain a better understanding of their artwork. Students are expected to compose and organize their designs with thought and reason taking into consideration the principles and elements of design. Lessons include outdoor sketching, figure drawing, oil painting, and sculpture.

ART147 Studio Art IV (Semester)
This class is for students considering a career in art. Students are guided on an individual basis, working to develop a style in order to complete a portfolio.

MUS163 Choral Music (Semester)
Students enrolled in this course will learn to develop their musical talents, and raise their voices to enrich and entertain the Central and Wheeling communities.

MUS164 Band (Semester)
Students enrolled in this course participate in all the functions of the marching band. Students improve their ability to play a specific musical instrument and learn marching techniques and routines. Marching band functions include: half-time shows at football games, pep assemblies, parades, and winter and spring concerts.

MUS165 Instrumental Music (Semester)
Students are introduced to music theory and its application to concert music. Students participate in the same functions as the marching band.

MUS167 Music Appreciation (Semester)
Students enrolled in this course will learn time signature, note value, pitch, and instruments. Students listen to the different kinds of music, from classical to contemporary.
